Catherine Anne O'Hara OC (born March 4, 1954)is a Canadian-American actress comedian, writer, and actress. O'Hara has been the recipient of several distinctions that include a Genie Award, a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and six Canadian Screen Awards. In 2018, O'Hara was made an Officer of Canada. In the year 2020, she was presented with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Performing Arts Artistic Achievement Award. O'Hara first made her appearance as an actor in 1974 when she was in The Second City, an comedy troupe that improvised located in Toronto. Alongside John Candy (1975-1978), she was part of the principal casting in the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). O'Hara, Candy, and Dan Aykroyd first began working on Second City Television's sketch comedy show (1976-1984). O'Hara received praise for her comic writing and acting skills which earned her the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writer for an episode of a Variety Series in 1982. O'Hara was appointed to the Second City artistic advisory panel in 2022 by Stephen Colbert.
